Basic Tools (Getting Started in A&P)

I wanted to start a thread about tools (insert weird Tim the Toolman sounds here) because I 1.) love tools and 2.) think it will be Über helpful for others to get a picture of what they will need to work in the industry.
So, just to get a start: where can someone who is going through school get a list of tools they should start acquiring for work? What would be the most important things to have once they graduate?
Then, what companies do you recommend buying tools from?
GO!

From what I heard schools and potential employers should provide everything you need, unless you plan on opening your own shop.

I am referring to the completion of training, obtaining a license, and working. Not for school. Tools are expensive. Starting to get some of them while in school may not be practical for most, but what happens if you get a job right after graduating? Most jobs expect (I would imagine) a basic loadout, correct?
